Ethical-Decision Making for Mental Health Professionals

Workshop Description

This workshop is designed to provide participants with an overview of the relevant laws and ethical standards that apply to the provision of services to children and adolescents from a developmental and multicultural perspective. Emphasis will be placed on practical application of the Ethical-Decision Making Model in clinical practice within school settings.

Workshop Goals

Participants will describe at least five major ethical and legal considerations related to the provision of mental health services in school settings.

Participants will describe the key components of the Ethical-Decision making model presented in the workshop.

Participants will apply the ethical-decision making model discussed in the workshop in a variety of scenarios presented in the workshop through case discussion and group participation.

Participants will describe how developmental, cultural, and social justice issues play important roles in ethical-decision making.
